National Knowledge Week on Tuberculosis

The National electronic Library of Infection (NeLI) and the National Knowledge Service - TB Pilot are hosting the National Knowledge Week on TB from 24th to 30th March 2008. Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious, but treatable infectious disease. Over 8000 new cases of TB are currently reported each year in the United Kingdom. The National Knowledge Week on TB is providing:

  • Evidence updates
  • Expert commentaries and
  • Access to resources developed by the National Knowledge Service on TB

Evidence Updates

The Tuberculosis National Knowledge Week provides an opportunity to present an update of quality assured information on subjects related to the diagnosis, management and control of TB. The aim is to highlight important developments that have been reported within the last year in the field tuberculosis. Content has been developed on the basis of topics suggested by UK tuberculosis experts. Information is organised by topic areas and links are provided within each topic to the relevant references (systematic reviews, primary research) and guidelines where available. Topics include: Treatment, Clinical Management & Diagnosis, Strain Typing, Public Health, Vaccination, TB & HIV and Tuberculous Meningitis.

We also provide commentaries from experts in the field which relate to number of the topics that have emerged this year, some of which are featured in this update:
