Abstract | Guidelines on the Management of Communicable Diseases in Schools and Nurseries: - Hepatitis A. This document provides details of mode of transmission - definition of onset; incubation period; risk of transmission - duration of shedding; period of infectiousness - serial interval; and exclusion period from school / nursery. Exclusion not recommended in older children because hepatitis A is generally a mild illness. Furthermore, exclusion would be largely ineffective because patients are most infectious in prodrome, and asymptomatic cases are involved in transmission. However, exclusion should still be attempted in nurseries because of risk to adults. |
