UK guidelines for the management of acute pancreatitis

Author(s)UK Working Party on Acute Pancreatitis
AbstractAims: During recent years there have been many changes in the management of patients with acute pancreatitis. These have included the general availability of computed tomography (CT) scanning, interventional radiological procedures, refinements in ITU care, and a more aggressive surgical policy in those with infected necrosis. Multicentre audits have revealed deficiencies in the management of the disease, with a lack of standardised protocols both within and between institutions. It is hoped that these guidelines will provide a framework for clinicians to follow when treating patients with this difficult disease.
Intended audience: Healthcare professionals.
