AbstractThis is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The primary objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the effectiveness of positioning the patient semi-recumbent compared to supine, for preventing VAP in mechanically ventilated adults. Secondary outcomes include mortality; length of ICU stay; duration of mechanical ventilation; and safety of ventilating patients in this position.
