PRODIGY Guidance - Immunizations - pneumococcal vaccine

AbstractThis guidance covers immunization of people in whom pneumococcal infection (bacteraemic pneumonia, bacteraemia, or meningitis) is likely to be more common or more serious.
This guidance does not cover childhood vaccinations or travel vaccinations.
There is separate PRODIGY guidance for Immunizations - childhood vaccination program, Immunizations - travel vaccinations, Influenza, and Chest infections.
The target audience for this guidance is healthcare professionals working within the NHS in England, and providing first contact or primary health care. Patient information leaflets (PILs) are intended to be printed and given to people with this condition, whilst the Shared decision making sections are designed to provide a focus for discussion during the consultation about the treatment options.
