Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Management of HIV in Pregnancy

Author(s)RCOG
AbstractHIV infection is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Effective treatment with anti-retroviral drugs (HAART) can prolong the quality and length of life. The principal risks of mother-to-child HIV transmission are related to maternal viral plasma load, obstetric factors and infant feeding. This guideline relates to the management of HIV in developed countries as it was considered beyond the scope of a single guideline to address management in both developed and developing country settings.
