AbstractThis guidance covers the management of urogenital infection in women caused by Chlamydia trachomatis types D-K, referred to as chlamydia in the rest of the text. It does not cover the management of pharyngitis, proctitis, conjunctivitis, and pneumonitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis types D-K, nor does it cover the management of infections caused by Chlamydia psittica, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Chlamydia trachomatis type L (causative organism of Lymphogranuloma Venereum) and types A-C (cause of the blinding disease, trachoma). The guideline includes background information and management issues (screening, general issues concerning the management of confirmed infection, drug treatments for uncomplicated genital tract infection i.e. lower GTI, drug treatments for pelvic inflammatory disease with tests positive for chlamydia).
